British Film Festival announces its collaboration with BBC Studios!
The British Film Festival (BFF), the only film event in Poland and one of the few in the world entirely dedicated to British cinema, announces its partnership with BBC Studios. As part of the collaboration, festival viewers will see a preview of the crime series LYBLEY, the cult children's animation BLUEY, and the breathtaking BLUE PLANET II. All screenings will be free of charge.
The initiative is a natural extension of the festival's mission, which from the outset has sought to showcase the most interesting and important aspects of British audiovisual culture. Joining forces with BBC Studios, an institution synonymous with quality and narrative courage, opens up completely new possibilities for the BFF audience.
“This partnership is an extremely exciting and natural step for us,” says Dorota Reksińska, founder and programmer of the British Film Festival. "As a festival dedicated to cinema from the British Isles, we have always admired what the BBC does for British culture. Their productions are often works of great artistic value that deserve to be experienced on the big screen. We are delighted to be able to blur the line between cinema and television, showing that what matters most is simply a compelling story and masterful execution," she adds.
“At BBC Studios, we believe in the power of storytelling—the ability to inspire, inform, and build connections between people. The British Film Festival is a great opportunity to showcase our productions in a unique, cinematic setting,” says Bartosz Witak, General Manager & SVP BBC Studios CEE & MENAT. We are delighted that such a diverse range of series – from the intelligent crime drama Lynley, to the universal tenderness of Blue, to the spectacular Blue Planet II – will be shown on the big screen, celebrating the craftsmanship of production and reflecting the diversity of British creativity. It is an honor for us to collaborate with a festival that, like us, believes in the power of storytelling as a way of shaping our view of the world. We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration.
The decision to show these productions in cinemas is no coincidence – the best BBC Studios productions have long been characterized by visual and narrative quality that is best appreciated in a cinema setting. As part of this premiere collaboration, the program includes three titles that perfectly illustrate the diversity and craftsmanship of the British broadcaster.
Festival viewers will be the first in Poland to see two episodes of the crime series LYNLEY based on Elizabeth George's best-selling novels, even before the official premiere on VOD platforms. The series premiere on BBC First and BBC Player is scheduled for November 20. The series centers on the dynamic relationship between two Scotland Yard detectives from completely different backgrounds: the aristocratic Inspector Thomas Lynley and his pragmatic working-class partner, Barbara Havers. It is intelligent entertainment and an insightful portrait of social divisions in Great Britain.

For the youngest viewers (and their parents), special screenings of the cult animated series BLUEY from the CBeebies channel have been prepared. This unique production, which captivates with its tenderness, humor, and authentic look at family relationships, has won the hearts of viewers around the world. It is a story about how play can be used to discover emotions and learn to live together with tenderness. More episodes of this production, beloved by young viewers, can be seen on CBeebies.

The OUTSIDE THE BOX section will present two episodes of the monumental nature series BLUE PLANET II. This extraordinary experience, with Sir David Attenborough as your irreplaceable guide, will take viewers on a journey into the unknown underwater world. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the film crew undertook 125 expeditions over four years, spending 6,000 hours underwater to film what had previously been inaccessible. A wide range of BBC productions presenting nature and science is available on BBC Earth.

Most importantly, all screenings produced in collaboration with BBC Studios will be free of charge.
Free tickets will be available online and at festival box offices from October 30, with details available on the festival website.
