THE THING WITH FEATHERS

The long-awaited adaptation of Max Porter's award-winning book "Grief is the Thing With Feathers", which has not yet been translated into Polish.

Dylan Southern’s film tells the story of a father and his two young sons who are trying to survive in a world shattered by the sudden death of their wife and mother. In their London flat, filled with silence and unfinished conversations, a new lodger unexpectedly appears. It is Crow - a large black bird who speaks, smells of decay, and behaves like a mix of a caring nanny, a cheeky trickster and a psychoanalyst. Crow announces that he will stay with them for as long as necessary.

Southern, best known for his music documentaries about Blur and LCD Soundsystem, now translates his sensitivity to rhythm and imagery into the language of fiction. That is not a typical drama about grief. It is a surreal, darkly humorous, yet heartbreakingly tender story about how we cope with unimaginable loss. A work of art cinema at its finest, combining outstanding literature with Benedict Cumberbatch’s hypnotic performance. A must-see at the British Film Festival.
