STITCH HEAD
STITCH HEAD
In the Miserable Valley, people have feared monsters for generations, while in the looming Castle Grotteskew, monsters…tremble at the very thought of humans. These two terrified worlds are about to be brought together by Stitch Head - a shy and sensitive little creature, stitched together from seemingly random parts, the very first of the “friendly monsters” brought to life by a mad scientist.
This animated adaptation of the beloved book series by British author Guy Bass (first published in Poland under the Polish title "Pacynek") is a colourful, witty tale about embracing difference, the power of genuine connection, and finding ways to live with our fears.
Tired of his lonely life as guardian of the castle’s hidden monsters, Stitch Head sees a glimmer of hope when he encounters a human for the first time, the director of a failing freak show. Tempted by promises of recognition, applause and love for who he truly is, Stitch Head sets out to make contact with the human world. It’s impossible not to root for him as he dares to build bridges between two worlds.
What follows is a lively, funny and heartwarming adventure, filled with action and emotion, that gently reminds us of universal values like friendship, belonging, overcoming prejudice, and the rewards of opening ourselves up to what seems monstrously different.
STITCH HEAD enchants with its beautifully crafted animation, Gothic-fairy tale aesthetic, and catchy songs. The film’s tenderly drawn characters bring warmth and charm to its darkly whimsical world. Director Steve Hudson and his team skillfully stitch together influences from Frankenstein, Tim Burton’s imagination and Pixar’s MONSTERS INC, creating a setting that feels both eerie and inviting - one that will captivate children and adults alike.
The film premiered at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival. In the original English version, the voice cast includes Asa Butterfield, Joel Fry and Rob Brydon. And don’t worry - the filmmakers assure us that no monsters were harmed in the making of this film!
